Conclusions of the meeting with Europa International - July 4 2011:
A charter of good conduct with some recommendations on delivery terms and access fee will be drafted by Europa Distribution and Europa International and sent out to the members of both associations.
- Europa Distribution will write a note on the VPF business model
- A list of technical standards for subtitle files and digital material will be established in order to avoid technical issues in the future. A list of European labs will be enclosed.
- The MEDIA funded project EDCL, led by CN Films in partnership with Europa Distribution, will be re-designed to include sales agents and turn the project into a real online digital library (centralized DCP, tools for sales agents, so that they can generate their DKDM by themselves...)

Locarno workshop on Digital Distribution - August 6 2011:
Europa Distribution gathered about 45 distributors for one day of debates, studies and exchanges on current digital distribution issues. We warmly thank all the panelists and the moderator, Edward Fletcher (Soda Pictures, UK), for their hard work and commitment to prepare this workshop.

San Sebastian film festival - September 18-20 2011:
Europa Distribution will be in San Sebastian for a workshop on VOD & DVD issues. We are looking forward to welcome the 20 distributors who have confirmed their presence! (inscriptions are closed)

Annual conference in Lyon - October 6-9 2011:
The Annual conference of Europa Distribution which will take place in the framework of the Lumière film festival - headed by Thierry Frémaux - will be an occasion to exchange about hot distribution matters. Issues such as new business models, new tools, the digital roll-out and the VOD will be tackled.

Partnership with Sunny Side of the Doc - June 24 2011:
For the first time, Europa Distribution has teamed up with Sunny Side of the Doc and the Mediadesk France to organize 2 panels on the distribution of documentaries. These panels will take place on June 22 and June 24. Etienne Ollagnier (Jour2Fête, France), and Eric Vicente (Sophie Dulac, France) and Andy Whittaker (Dogwoof, UK) will participate in the panel. The Paris Project workshop will take place from July 5 to 7. 45 distributors have confirmed their presence.
Programme:
The workshop on the 5th afternoon will tackle the issue of distribution windows and the impact of new technologies on them.
On the 6th morning, distributors will participate in the Paris Screenings (Works in Progress). On the 6th afternoon, there will be a Europa Distribution work session followed by the General Assembly.
On the 7th morning, a Europa Distribution International workshop will take place with a focus on the distribution of non-European movies in Europe.

ED working groups - July 6 2011:
In the framework of the Paris project workshop, the working groups on royalties statements and on the new MEDIA program will present their first conclusions.

Cannes Film festival - Europa Distribution dinner - May 2011:
About 50 members gathered to enjoy a 'quite-the-end-of-the-festival' dinner on the Unifrance terrace. An occasion for historic members to meet new members and to exchange about the movies seen on the Croisette!

Cannes Film festival - The Future of the MEDIA programme - May 2011:
Europa Distribution met EP members (Isabelle Durand, Piotr Borys) in Cannes as well as the MEDIA staff, in order to discuss the future of the MEDIA Programme.

ED working groups - May 2011:
The royalties statements working group had its first meeting in Cannes and is moving forward to try to harmonize royalties statements.
A working group on the MEDIA program has been created to set up concrete proposals for the 2013 scheme and will have their first meeting during the Paris workshop.
A work session with Europa International, the new European association of sales agent, has been scheduled on July 4th in Paris, order to move forward on the digital issue.

Cine en Construccion prize - Toulouse - March 2011:
The prize was awarded to BONSAI, by Cristian Jimenez (Chili - 90 min).
A special dotation was also awarded to HISTORIAS QUE SO EXISTEM QUANDO LEMBRADAS, by Julia Murat (Brasil - 98 min).

The Future of the MEDIA Programme:
- Europa Distribution received a letter from JM Barroso in response to its February letter. The President of the European Commission confirms that the future of the MEDIA Programme is not threatened.
- Europa Distribution is part of an inter-professional coordination working on concrete proposals for the whole cinematographic chain to be sent to Commissioner Vassiliou as a contribution to the content of the future MEDIA Programme.
- Europa Distribution will also make a written contribution for the distribution support schemes in the future MEDIA Programme.

Cine en Construccion & CinemaLab - Toulouse - March 21-26:
- Corentin Senechal, from Epicentre (France), represented Europa Distribution in the jury awarding the Cinema in Construction prize. The prize was awarded to BONSAI, by Cristian Jiménez (Chili - 90 min).

- 6 Europa Distribution members participated to the CinemaLab training, focused on the promotion of Latin-American movies in Europe.

Inside Pictures Training:
Inside Pictures is a leading film industry business training and leadership skills development programme. MEDIA Public Hearing - Brussels - March 18:

The European Commission has just launched a Public Consultation on a future European Union MEDIA Programme. There is a questionnaire that needs to be filled out online before NOVEMBER 30 2010.

Annecy workshop:

Annecy workshop:
On the 8th of June we will be holding an open conference dealing with stereoscopic 3D. We will overlook the market realities and practicial challenges that this new field of distribution represents for independent distributors and the cinema industry in general.
On the 9th, a closed workshop dedicated to our members and consisting of case studies on recent and upcoming animated features will be held.
Nearly 20 distributors will be present at this event.

Paris Cinema workshop:

Christine Eloy, of Cineart in Belgium represented Europa Distribution. She sat alongside Ian Christie, of Europa Cinemas, Antoine Virenque, of the European Digital Cinema Forum, and Hughes Becquart, of the MEDIA Programme to discuss the mutations of digital for the cinema industry.

The Eric Pommer Institute is organizing a formation dedicated to the producers and distributors who are interested in acquiring the basic tools to "capitalize on the opportunities of the digital world". have all participated in the last Cartoon Movie, from Wednesday 3rd to Friday 5th March, that tool place in the beautiful city of Lyon, France

Created in 1999, Cartoon Movie is neither a fair nor a festival, but rather a co-production forum for European animation films. During two intense days, European producers have the opportunity to present their animation projects to all potential buyers in order to negotiate financing, to find partners and to interest distributors. All of this is happening in a very relaxed and convivial atmosphere.

Europa Distribution has hosted a well attended CIDINET cocktail reception in Berlin on February 15 2010. Around 120 professionals - distributors, institutionals, sales agents, festival representatives - were present at Oscar & Co to discover the new database for the sharing of information on distribution data. General feedback on CIDINET was very positive, many people mentioned that such a tool should be very useful for the industry.

Europa Distribution unveils in Berlin Internet based network offering information on European distribution data to European distributors and sales agents. Users can already find 1100 recent film profiles (2008-2010) and 650 companies profiles (European distributors and international sales agents) on the database. CIDINET will be improved on a daily basis to ensure that it becomes an essential business tool for European distributors. see press release
