Conclusions of the meeting with Europa International - July 4 2011:
A charter of good conduct with some recommendations on delivery terms and access fee will be drafted by Europa Distribution and Europa International and sent out to the members of both associations.
- Europa Distribution will write a note on the VPF business model
- A list of technical standards for subtitle files and digital material will be established in order to avoid technical issues in the future. A list of European labs will be enclosed.
- The MEDIA funded project EDCL, led by CN Films in partnership with Europa Distribution, will be re-designed to include sales agents and turn the project into a real online digital library (centralized DCP, tools for sales agents, so that they can generate their DKDM by themselves...)

Locarno workshop on Digital Distribution - August 6 2011:
Europa Distribution gathered about 45 distributors for one day of debates, studies and exchanges on current digital distribution issues. We warmly thank all the panelists and the moderator, Edward Fletcher (Soda Pictures, UK), for their hard work and commitment to prepare this workshop.

San Sebastian film festival - September 18-20 2011:
Europa Distribution will be in San Sebastian for a workshop on VOD & DVD issues. We are looking forward to welcome the 20 distributors who have confirmed their presence! (inscriptions are closed)

Annual conference in Lyon - October 6-9 2011:
The Annual conference of Europa Distribution which will take place in the framework of the Lumière film festival - headed by Thierry Frémaux - will be an occasion to exchange about hot distribution matters. Issues such as new business models, new tools, the digital roll-out and the VOD will be tackled.

Cineuropa: Tell us a little bit about Solar World Cinema. What are the project’s main goals and how has it evolved since its creation?
Maureen Prins: Solar World Cinema [SWC] organizes film screenings in a mobile cinema powered completely by solar energy. It brings new films to unconventional places. Solar World Cinema presents open-air screenings of films, documentaries and audiovisual programmes in cooperation with film festivals, filmmakers, film schools, NGOs and individual initiatives.
SWC was started as an association in 2010, to develop the concept of the solar-powered cinema internationally – following the Dutch example, CosyMo’s Solar Cinema. The Dutch solar-powered cinema has been working successfully since 2006 and we had the desire to take the concept abroad. By this I mean developing traveling film tours throughout Europe, creating a new network of partners and also developing a similar solar-powered cinema in Latin America.
